Frequently Asked Questions

Which conditions do you treat?

We specialize in mood and anxiety disorders, including:

• Depression and Bipolar Disorder

• Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

• Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

We also treat conditions that frequently occur alongside the above disorders:

• Insomnia and sleep disorders

• Adult attention deficit disorder (ADHD)

• Panic disorder

• Borderline Personality: mood swings, anger, impulsiveness and self-harming behaviors.

What are your office hours?

Our office hours are different for each clinician.  Appointments are generally available Monday-Friday.  There are evening openings as well, including Monday/Tuesday and sometimes other days.  We are available by phone Monday-Friday and for urgent calls on evenings and weekends.

Do you accept insurance?

We are in-network, and provide billing services, for the following two plans:

BlueCross-BlueShield:  If you have this plan, double check that the mental health benefits are also managed by BCBS.  Sometimes they “carve out” the mental health to another insurer in which case your visits here may not be covered.

CBHA: This is the mental-health plan for Wake Forest and Baptist Hospital employees as well as other medical groups in the area.  We are in-network for CBHA, but they do require you to call them prior to your visit to get an authorization number (at 800-475-7900 or check the back of your card).

Other Plans:  We also see people out-of-network or by private-pay if you are not on the above plans.  If you are interested in out-of-network services, check with your insurer to see if they will cover that with us.  If so, you will still need to pay privately for your visit here; we will give you an insurance-receipt that you can use to file for reimbursement with your insurer.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, check and visa/mastercard.  Payment is due at the time of service.

How can I assure privacy in treatment?

We take great care to ensure that information you share with me is kept confidential. There are important limitations to confidentiality, such as when keeping it would threaten your own or someone else's life. This is described in more detail in our privacy policy.

How can I find your office?

The office is located just off Interstate-40 business, near downtown Winston-Salem. Click here for directions.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Please collect information in the New Patient Form to bring with you.  If you have been in treatment before, you can have your mental health records transferred to me by sending a release of information form to your previous places of treatment.  If you wish to bring a friend or relative to your first visit we welcome that as that can be very helpful getting to know your situation better.
